Sex Doesn't Sell, It Says Here December 31, 2009 @ 10:11:13 AM EST
According to this article sex doesn’t sell in Bollywood:
Mumbai: Sex does not sell in Bollywood anymore. An RTI query has revealed that adult-rated films, from being twice the number of general category films in 2004, fell to about half their count by 2008.
There are many reasons given in this article for the decline in overt appeals to sex in Bollywood movies. I could amuse readers by repeating some of them. Basically the article demonstrates that there are thousands of routes to the same place, and rather than becoming prudish and abandoning sex as an appeal Indian movie makers are finding clever ways to bend the censors laws.
The bottom line is that sex sells even when you wink, wink, wink and say sex doesn’t sell.
When Bollywood abandons sex as an appeal to go to movies India will sink into the ocean.
